Barcelona
Have just come back from a lovely weekend in Barcelona with Sarah, celebrating our anniversary. I don't think that we could have crammed any more into a weekend! Our flight with Ryanair got us in to Barcelona (Girona) Airport ahead of schedule, then a (relatively) quick hop on the bus to the Estacio del Nord. Having no real concept of where we were going, we had to rely on a local taxi driver to point us in the right direction. Fernando from apartmentsinbarcelona.net had waited up for us to arrive and showed us into our loft apartment.
The first thing that struck me on our first foray onto the streets of Barcelona (at 2am!) was the number of bikes and (mainly) scooters. Every street corner seemed to have bike parking bays, all full with every variety of two-wheeled vehicle. Harleys, Beemers and R1s sat next to Piaggio Zips, Honda Leads and Yamaha Whys - a very eclectic mix!
First thing Saturday morning we rented a 100cc Honda Lead from Barcelonamoto.com. With a stunning 7bhp it did a fantasic job of propelling Sarah and I around the manic streets of the city for the next 24 hours!
